They raised slogans against MPs and Ministers from the State

MYSORE: Leaders of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and the Bhoomi Tayi Horata Samithi (BTHS) took out a procession from Jaladarshinin Guesthouse to the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Tuesday, protesting against the award pronounced by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, on the apportioning of water among riparian States.

They have submitted a memorandum to President Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh against notifying the final award in the Gazette and have sought their intervention in resolving the crisis.

They staged a dharna for two hours and raised slogans against the tribunal and MPs and ministers representing the State in the Union Cabinet, who they said had failed in protecting the interests of farmers in Karnataka.

Leaders of both the organisations held emergency meetings of their district units and have resolved to hold demonstration in various parts of Cauvery basin. "Respective district units will hold demonstration in the district headquarters from Wednesday," State secretary, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Badagalapura Nagendra has said.
