Babaleshwar MLA lays foundation stone for the tank
The gesture of farmers to hand over 100 acres of fertile land for the construction of a tank in Jalgeri village is highly commendable and all the residents of the village should always be thankful to them, said Babaleshwar MLA M.B. Patil.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of a tank at a cost of Rs. 1.2 crore at Jalgeri village here on Thursday, he said that six farmers of the village had given away 100 acres of fertile land for the construction of tank.
The tank would provide irrigation facility to agriculture land in the surrounding areas.
The built-up area of the tank would be around 88.17 acres and it would store 31.57 tmcft of water. It will provide direct irrigation facility to 300 acres of land in Jalgeri and Dokalewadi villages. It would also cover farm land in the surrounding areas.
He also promised that the farmers who have provided land for the tank would be provided compensation.
“If the State Government fails to pay compensation to the farmers, the elected representatives of the region would approach court for justice and all the legal expenditure would be borne by me (Mr. Patil),” he added.
The MLA also felicitated farmers who handed over land for the tank on the occasion.
Zilla panchayat president Somnath Bagalkot, Krishnaji Kulkarni, Rajugowda Patil and Buthalsidda Wodeyar were present.
