MYSORE: A farmer from Yemmehole in Hunsur taluk allegedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze following disappointment over his failure to procure fertilizer.

The deceased, whose name was given as Mahesh, had cultivated tobacco on his one acre land and was desperate for fertilizer. He had made frequent trips to the taluk headquarters, but had returned disappointed, according to the police, who cited his family members. Overcome by grief, Mahesh poured kerosene and set himself ablaze on Tuesday night.

He was rushed to the burns ward of K.R. Hospital where he died in the early hours of Wednesday. The Hunsur police have registered a case.
