Minister for Energy Shobha Karandlaje has said that Five Year Plans have failed to provide help and foresight to the agricultural sector. After hoisting the Tricolour at the Mahatma Gandhi stadium here to mark Republic Day on Thursday, Ms. Karandlaje said that the agricultural sector has been neglected as importance is given to Defence, industry, technology and commerce in Five Year Plans.

The loopholes in the APMC system have resulted in problems because of which the farmer is in trouble, she said. As the farmer does not get profit for what he grows, he migrates to cities.

MP G.S. Basavaraju, MLAs S. Shivanna and Suresh Gowda were present.
