In the wake of revision of passenger fares from January 22, the Hubli division of South Western Railway has opened exclusive booths to help travellers.

The booths near the Ticket Collector’s Office will be manned by ticket collectors (TCs) and travelling ticket examiners (TTEs). They have started functioning at Hubli, Dharwad, Londa, Belgaum, Ghataprabha, Vasco-da-Gama, Gadag, Hospet, Bellary, Bagalkot and Bijapur railway stations. In a release issued here, South Western Railway said the TC and TTEs would collect the fare difference and issue a receipt. SWR has asked passengers to pay the difference in fare in advance, failing which it would be collected during their journey.

As per the revised fares, the minimum fare chargeable will be Rs. 5. The revised fares will also apply to tickets issued in advance for journeys to commence on or after January 22.

In the case of tickets already issued at pre-revised rates, the difference in fare and other charges will be recovered either by TTEs on the trains or by the booking/reservation offices before the commencement of journey by the passengers, the release said.
