A Doddaballapur resident declared brain dead after a road accident, has boosted the quality of life of three others by donating her liver and eyes.

According to the Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Transplantation (ZCCK), the 48-year-old homemaker suffered severe head injuries in a road accident near Hebbal. She was taken to Columbia Asia Hospital on November 11 and declared as brain dead by doctors on November 19.

Following ZCCK’s intervention, her family gave their consent for organ donation. “As she had suffered from breast cancer, we did not retrieve her kidneys,” said ZCCK secretary D. Ramesh. Her liver was retrieved on Tuesday night and transplanted to a critically ill woman and her eyes donated to Lions Eye Bank.
