Central Crime Branch team raids seven shops
A team of Central Crime Branch police on Sunday raided seven shops in Gandhi Nagar here and recovered 408 fakes of high-end wrist watches.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Krishnam Raju, the raids were carried out on shops located at National Market and S.N. Bazaar. They have recovered fake watches of well-known international brand names such as Rado, Rolex, Tommy Hilfiger, Tissot, Tag Heuer, Cartier and Mont Blanc.
The police said that these watches were sold at a far lesser price than the original watches.
“Some of the accused shop owners procured the watches from a supplier in Bangalore, while others obtained them from Kerala.
“We are trying to locate the source of the supply of these watches,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police S.H. Duggappa.
The police are sending the recovered watches to the respective companies.
Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari said that efforts are being made to book those involved manufacturing such fake items. He also cautioned people against buying fake watches.
The police gave the names of the accused as Ashraf (28), Abdul Khader (27), Mohammed Sajid Pasha (26), Mohammed Sharief (20), Mohammed Parvez Pasha (20), Chand Pasha (45) and Ikbal (30).
