Two held; papers, 34 seals recovered in raid

Bangalore: Yet another fake documents racket was unearthed in the city when the Kalasipalyam police raided a hotel on J.C. Road here on Saturday evening and arrested two men. The men allegedly sold a large number of fake documents to the public over several years.

The police also recovered fake documents and 34 fake seals of several government departments.

The police gave the names of the men as Peter Paul alias Paul Periyanayagam (44), a resident of Anandpur on Mysore Road, and V. Gandhi (54) from Sampangi Lane on Dr. T.C.M. Rayan Road near Chamarajapet.

According to the police sources, a police team raided the hotel and arrested the accused.

“Peter was an autorickshaw driver and he had been selling fake caste certificates, transfer certificates, birth certificates and other documents to the people. Gandhi had been working as his agent. The two sold thousands of fake documents to the desired people,” said an officer of the Kalasipalyam police station.

Several people, especially those from neighbouring States who have settled here, have made use of these fake and forged marks cards to avail themselves of benefits from the State Government as well as private companies.

On a tip-off, the police arrested the accused when they were closing a deal with a customer. Fake documents were recovered from them.
