Posing as policemen, two miscreants duped two elderly women in HSR Layout I Sector and Doddanekkundi on Tuesday. The incidents, two hours apart were believed to be perpetrated by two men suspected to be part of the Irani gang.

Two khaki-clad men approached Theresa Joseph (68) a resident of HSR Layout I Sector, on a motorcycle as she was walking home. They approached her, introduced themselves as policemen and rebuked her for wearing a gold chain. Citing a recent murder, the duo advised her to remove the chain and keep it safe.

When she removed the chain, the miscreants wrapped it in paper and returned it to her. After reaching home she discovered a stone wrapped in the paper.

Two hours later, Premabai (60), a resident of Doddanekkundi became a victim of the same ploy. The two reprimanded another passerby who gave the duo his chain and got it wrapped in paper. Seeing this, Premabi followed suit and parted with her 60-gm chain. Police suspect that the passerby could have been a part of the gang.
