Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which has a major role to play in every corporate firm, is today something that has had a major impact on society, said Prakash Nair, convener, CSR Panel, CII Mysore.

He felt it was something every individual in society should take an interest in. Mr. Nair was speaking at a session on CSR and sustainability, held by CII Mysore jointly with the GSSS Centre for PG Studies and Research on Friday. CSR is not an initiative to be taken just for the sake of doing so; it is a necessity, and also involves the participation of the youth, he felt.

Sai Prakash, founder-president, Erin Foundation, also spoke about what a corporate firm, an educational institution, and government firms and individuals could do as social responsibility.

The session was followed by a panel discussion on ‘the role of youth in community development – a shared responsibility’.

Honorary secretary of GSSS Centre Vanaja B. Pandit, faculty members of various colleges from Mysore and Bangalore, and over 400 college students, were present.
