Around 50 million people in the world are believed to be affected by epilepsy. In India, about 50 persons in every 10,000 are affected by the disorder.

National Epilepsy day is observed every year on November 17.

The Parijma Neurodiagnostic and Rehabilitation Centre on Sunday observed the day with an aim to create awareness about the onset, symptoms and treatment of the disorder. Prathap Singh, Commissioner of Income Tax Department, inaugurated the event.

To create awareness and to sensitise the public, doctors at the centre spoke on epilepsy, a brain disorder caused by the disruption of neural activity.
