`Those eligible should not be denied houses under Ashraya and Ambedkar schemes'
GULBARGA: The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (M. Sathnur) on Thursday urged the State Government to ensure that welfare programmes launched by the Government for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities are implemented properly by officials.
Samiti members took out a procession in the city. In a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and submitted to the Revenue Department officials, they said that Government should see to it that those eligible were not denied houses under the Ashraya and Ambedkar housing programmes. It should put a hold on Ashraya committees misusing powers, they said.
The samiti also wanted the Government to ensure that there was no cropping pattern violation in the command areas of the Upper Krishna Project. It should ensure that tail-end farmers in the command areas got their share of water.
They also demanded that the Government sanction monthly pension to Devadasis and destitutes.
