The Eeshanya Valaya Shikshakara Vedike has urged the government to ensure students get education loans at low interest rates. The Centre promised to waive interest on all education loans in 2009. But the promise had not been fulfilled, M.B. Ambalagi, president, said. The vedike will hold a meeting of students who have taken education loans, in Gulbarga on December 5. A teachers’ conference will be organised in Gulbarga on January 12 to demand implementation of ‘equal pay for equal work’ and to end the disparity in salary scales for teachers.
