TUMKUR: The State Information Commission has levied a penalty of Rs. 2,000 on Ganganna, Executive Engineer, Sira City Municipal Council (CMC) in Tumkur district for failing to furnish “correct” information to an applicant under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Gow. Thi. Ranganath, writer, released copies of the order passed by K.K. Misra, State Information Commissioner, to presspersons here on Thursday and said he had complained to the Commissioner that the Engineer had furnished him “irrelevant information” and tried to mislead the people.

The Commissioner has, in the order, directed the Government to deduct the fine amount from the Engineer’s salary for June.
