Bangalore: A civil engineer working for a multinational company allegedly committed suicide as he feared that he will lose his job due to the economic slowdown, in Yelahanka New Town Police limits here on Saturday.
The police gave the name of the dead as Manjunath (45), a native of Mysore, and a resident of Yelahanka New Town A Sector. Manjunath worked for a private company on Palace Road for two years. He had sent his wife and children to a relative’s place on Saturday.
Manjunath’s wife and his children returned in the evening only to find that Manjunath had hanged himself to death from the roof.
His wife R. Chandrika, in the complaint to the police, did not mention any reason for her husband’s act. But the police quoted her as saying that Manjunath was afraid of losing his job. He had told her a few days ago that he could be one among the 20 whom the company was thinking of giving a pink slip.
