A biotechnology engineer was killed on the spot when the scooter he was riding rammed a parked garbage truck on Old Madras Road early on Sunday.

G . Shushruth (26) was returning home from work when the accident occurred. Lighting on the road was poor and the truck had not switched on the parking lights, the K.R. Puram police said. The truck driver, who had stopped the vehicle to have dinner, fled the spot.

Third such accident

Sunday’s accident is the third such incident in the last six months in which two-wheeler riders were killed after ramming their vehicles into parked trucks.

In December last year, three engineering students who were returning home were killed after their motorcycle rammed a garbage truck parked on K.R. Puram Ring Road. Two weeks ago, a software engineer died after ramming his motorcycle into a parked truck in Koramangala police station limits.

Helmetless rider killed

A 23-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot after he lost control of his motorcycle and skidded on the road while negotiating a road hump on Hosur Road on Saturday night.

Abhishek, a native of Bihar, was working in an information technology firm in Electronics City and was a paying guest in Kasavanahalli. He was reportedly riding without a helmet and died from head injuries, the police said. The Electronics City police have registered a case.
