The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has made it mandatory for long-distance buses to have an emergency exit door in the wake of accidents involving tourist buses.

In a press release here on Wednesday, Regional Transport Officer Arun Kumar Singh said that as per directions from the Transport Department, it was compulsory for long-distance buses to have emergency exit doors from May 1. Buses which did not have emergency exit doors will not be allowed to ply, the release said.
