Families of police personnel are living in darkness as there has been no power supply for the last five days in Block nos. 14 and 15 of the Suburban line police headquarters here.

The power supply was cut off to this locality last Sunday when four electricity poles fell down.

Several complaints

The residents of the locality, which houses 20 families, accused Hubli Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) authorities of taking no action to restore the power supply despite several complaints and reminders.

Besides, the fallen poles in front of some of their houses had not been cleared, posing a danger to people, they told presspersons who visited the area on Thursday.

Fortunately, there was nobody outside when the poles fell down, they said.

They have also accused Hescom officials of demanding money for repairs.

Response

A resident said that Hescom personnel had installed three new poles following visits by presspersons on Thursday, but the electricity supply was yet to be restored.
