Love for Kannada
Presenting the awards, the Governor spoke about his love for Karnataka and the Kannada language.
“During my tenure as Governor here, I have realised that Karnataka is a land of rich cultural heritage. People here are excellent achievers with remarkable talent,” he said.
He said Kannada was a sweet and simple language. “So much so, that even I understand the language now. This is because it has words similar to those in Sanskrit,” he said.
Mr. Patil said that it was difficult for the panel to select the awardees as almost all who had applied were achievers.
The award presentation ceremony was organised by Doordarshan Chandana in association with All India Radio and Christ University.
Additional Director-General of Doordarshan Mahesh Joshi also spoke.
