The Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested eight persons who were selling substandard mobile phones in the name of well-known brands.
Goods worth Rs. 30 lakh have been seized from the accused.
The sleuths raided shops at S.N. Bazaar on Gandhinagar 3rd Main Road, and two other shops ‘Classic Electronics’ and ‘Akash Mobile and Electronics’ on S.C. Road nearby.
The arrested have been identified as Suresh (18), Govindram Purohit (28), Rajaram (26), Arjun Kumar (21), Vimal (28), Hari Singh (33), Ismail (26) and Siddhayya (41), all from Bangalore.
The police seized mobile phones along with spare parts, including 250 touch pads, 100 phone batteries, 72 chargers, 945 flip covers, 155 headphones, 120 stickers, 81 connection kits, 70 panels, 60 MRP stickers, eight data cables and two Bluetooth chips, estimated at Rs. 30 lakh.
A case has been registered with the Upparpet police.
Seven persons were arrested by the city police on charges of murdering a history-sheeter last Sunday in Doddaballapur police limits.
According to the police, the accused had allegedly murdered the rowdy, identified as Prakash, on September 15.
The K.P. Agrahara police were checking vehicles on the Padarayanapura main road near Telecom Layout when they stopped a car in which the accused were travelling. Suspicious of their behaviour, the police detained Amar (29), Lokesh (27), Manjunath (26), Thimma (23), Pandi (28), Ravi (26) and Pradeep (23).
Interrogation revealed that they were allegedly involved in the murder of the rowdy following which they were arrested and handed over to the Doddaballapur police.
