There have been eight complaints of violation of the model code of conduct in Mysore district in the last 24 hours, including one pertaining to distribution of cash, and action has been initiated by the authorities to ensure free and fair elections.

The authorities received complaint that money was being distributed to voters in Sharada Devi Nagar in Chamundeshwari constituency on Thursday and the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the control room of the Deputy Commissioner.

The matter was taken to the Sector Officer and Flying Squad comprising Lakshmi Narasimhaiah and Raghavendra who visited the spot for an inquiry and seized one car, an autorickshaw. They have lodged a complaint with the Saraswathipuram police.

There was a complaint that utensils were being distributed to the voters allegedly by the Congress in Mellahalli village and the flying squad, which reached the spot on receiving the information, seized the utensils. A complaint has been lodged.

Rice seized

The Mandya East police seized 10.35 tonnes of rice from a person on Yethagana Halli Main Road near Guthalu on Thursday night. The rice was meant for distribution among voters in Mandya. Sources, however, said that police are interrogating the lorry driver Muktar Ahmed.
