An education system must aim at strengthening adherence to secularism, inclusiveness and pluralism, Union Minister for Law and Justice M. Veerappa Moily said here on Saturday.

Speaking at the Graduation Day ceremony at the St. Aloysius College, he said education must look at the holistic development of the youth. “The values of secularism, inclusiveness, and pluralism, give strength and sustenance to our diverse, multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-lingual society,” he added. Mr. Moily said the higher education system was facing several challenges. “The challenge of global competitiveness has added to other demanding tasks such as access, equity, relevance, quality, privatisation and internationalisation in the face of resource crunch.”

Forty-seven rank-holders from the under-graduate level and 80 ranks-holders from the post-graduate level were given medals, certificates and cash prizes.
