Secretary of the Mysore Poura Matthu Samajika Pragati Sangha D.N. Venkataramaiah told presspersons here on Wednesday that they had launched a campaign on March 30 to create voter awareness. As part of the campaign, people were administered oath (in writing) that they would exercise their franchise in the Assembly elections.

“Over 23,000 oath letters have been collected from the public,” he said.

“Many educated people in the urban areas blame the system, but do not turn up at the polling booths. This campaign is neither to promote any individual nor any political party. It is to educate the ‘educated’,” he said.
