MYSORE: The State Committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has resolved to take out a padayatra `Souhardateyedege Yuvajanara Nadige' from Chikmagalur to Bababudan-Datta Peetha on November 23, to "abort attempts by Sangh Parivar to communalise the Sufi shrine", a symbol of Hindu-Muslim amity in Bababudangiri hills of Chikmagalur district.


Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, DYFI State secretary N.L. Bharataraj said that the padayatra was an attempt to inform the people about the designs of Sangh Parivar to disturb communal harmony .

It was also to acreate awareness on the plural culture represented by Sufi shrine at Bababudan Darga, which was facing threat because of recent attempts by communal forces to meet their political ends.

Activists of DYFI, thinkers, intellectuals and writers from various parts of the State would participate in the padayatra, he added.
