SHIMOGA: Members of the district unit of Dalit Sangharsh Samithi (S) staged a demonstration on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Tuesday.

In a memorandum submitted to the district administration, they demanded that landless people from the Dalit community who had been cultivating on government land since 1973 in Shimoga and Bhadravati taluks be given title deeds. They also wanted house sites be given to 150 Dalits living in the Lakkinakoppa Circle on the government land bearing survey numbers 21 to 25 and BPL cards be distributed to all eligible families immediately.
