The State Transport Department is carrying out a special drive to check public service vehicles from October 31 onwards.

The department has checked 374 vehicles, including tourist Omni buses and other passenger vehicles, until November 2.

Consequently, it has booked 234 cases and collected Rs. 24,800 as fine money so far.

The vehicles were checked for their documents, technical condition, carrying of commercial goods in passenger vehicles and so on.

The department has requested that commuters and citizens co-operate with the checks that will be carried out across the city.
