The El Shaddai Charitable Trust will hold a series of campaign programmes on ‘Prevention of Child Abuse Awareness’ across the State from Thursday, November 14 to Tuesday, November 19.
Abuse and violence against children and youth are a daily reality at home, in schools, in institutions, at work and in the community for millions of young people, a release by the organisers said on Tuesday.
Every year November 19 is observed as a World Child Abuse Prevention Day.
These campaigns will be held at all the major cities of Goa. Matthew Kurian, Co-Founder and Managing Director of El Shaddai Charitable Trust will be in Goa for this.
The campaign will begin on Thursday at Margao, followed by another programme in Ponda on Friday.
The third programme will be at Vasco on Saturday and in Calangute on Sunday.
In Mapusa it will be held on November 18 and the final event will be held in the city on November 19.
Goa being a tourist destination, the children who are on streets, slums and the poor are vulnerable to physical, sexual and emotional exploitation besides being used as child labour, as well as female child neglect.
El Shaddai Charitable Trust has been addressing this issue by organising prevention of child abuse awareness campaign for the past five years.
The activities consist of ticker campaigns, awareness rally, talks on prevention of child abuse and cultural programmes by the children, said Rucha S. Chudasama of El Shaddai Charitable Trust.
