Rs. 2,000 cr. for drinking water

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj H.K. Patil told the Legislative Assembly that Rs. 2,000 crore would be available for 40,338 projects to provide drinking water this fiscal. Replying to a debate on the drinking water shortage raised by JD(S) leader H.D. Revanna, B.R. Patil (KJP) and others, the Minister said funds would be utilised on multi-village schemes, micro-level water supply programme, and providing water purification units in areas suffering from contamination due to fluoride and arsenic. — Special Correspondent
