The Kolar police finally arrested S.K. Santosh Kumar, the main accused in the murder of his wife and daughter, in Puducherry on Wednesday.
Santosh Kumar, a librarian at the Government First Grade College at Soolibele in Hoskote taluk of Bangalore Rural district, was absconding since July 10.
C.B. Veena (23) was murdered along with her daughter Deepthi (2) by Santosh Kumar and his family members in an alleged case of dowry harassment at Keelukote here on that day.
Confirming the development, Superintendent of Police Ram Nivas Sepat told The Hindu that Santosh Kumar was arrested from a lodge in Puducherry by a Kolar police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Srihari Baragur.
The police are expected to bring the accused to Kolar on Thursday.
Veena’s parents, supported by several organisations, launched an indefinite dharna on the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises here on August 21, demanding Santosh Kumar’s arrest. A series of protests were also held demanding his arrest.
The dharna is likely to be called off on Thursday.
