Umashree, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, has expressed displeasure over the working of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) involved in the implementation of schemes of the department.
Chairing a review meeting here on Saturday, Ms. Umashree said NGOs had failed to deliver the goods. “They take funds from the government, but do not ensure that the schemes reach genuine beneficiaries,” she said.
The Minister asked officials not to rely fully on NGOs.
She criticised officials for their failure to avert a child marriage in Kolar town.
The Minister expressed displeasure over the non-utilisation of funds meant for creating awareness on atrocities against women and children.
