Even as Bharatiya Janata Party members went hammers and tongs against V. Balasubramanian, chairperson of the Taskforce for Recovery of Public Lands, Janata Dal (Secular) Floor Leader M.C. Nanaiah cautioned that the situation should not be used to bury the crucial report of the task force. “Vested interests are behind the encroachment of government land. There is a dire need to act sternly against them,” he said. In response, Leader of the Opposition D.V. Sadananda Gowda said they were not against taking action against land sharks. “We are only opposing the attitude of targeting the politicians unnecessarily,” he said.
