Encroachments on lakebeds cleared

The Bangalore district administration cleared seven acres and 12 guntas of tank beds of Herohalli and Mallasandra lakes at Yeshwanthpura hobli on Tuesday. The total value of the cleared property is estimated at Rs. 23 crore.

Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Urban G.C. Prakash said, “There were around 40 structures on the encroached land and some of them were demolished on Tuesday while the rest of them were issued notices to evict the place at the earliest.”

The five guntas of encroached tank bed area at Mallasandra lake that had been cleared had structures that included five commercial complexes.

Another parcel of land spread across 6 acres and 15 guntas of grazing land at Lakshipura village in Dasanapura hobli had been cleared as it which has been encroached Narasimhamurthy to cultivation of ragi, paddy and vegetables, he said. — Special Correspondent
