BANGALORE: Supply of water will be affected in many parts of the city on Wednesday following power failure at the key water pumping station at Tataguni reservoir.

According to Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board officials, the power supply was affected for two hours following a technical snag in the Somanahalli Central Grid on Tuesday night. A 220 kV line is drawn between the pumping station and the grid. The BWSSB pumps in about 800 million litres from Cauvery for over a period of 24 hours. With disruption in the power supply, it will not be in a position to transfer water to the city reservoirs for that period. The BWSSB promises to provide a few areaswith water from tankers.
