The Akhila Karnataka Angavikalara Horata Samiti has demanded that the Government fill the 50,000 backlog vacancies reserved for persons with disabilities in various departments.

Members of the samiti staged a dharna here on Saturday demanding that the government concede their demands. They demanded that at least 10 per cent of the total budget allocation be earmarked for the welfare of those with physical disabilities. President of the samiti Umesh S. Kulkarni said the Government should constitute a separate board for persons with disabilities. He said that students with disabilities who were pursuing professional courses should be sanctioned a scholarship of Rs. 5,000.
