The process to start dialysis centres at every district has started with one place in every district being identified for the centre, said Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader here on Thursday.

Among the places specified by the Minister were Puttur in Dakshina Kannada and Kundapur in Udupi district. He said except for Belgaum district which will get two dialysis centres because of its large area, one centre will come up in every district.

He told presspersons that the agreement with Kasturba Medical College to distribute dentures to senior citizens will be emulated in other places.

Furthermore, elaborating on another ambitious scheme to start two-wheeler ambulances, Mr. Khader said, “Unlike a normal ambulance that costs between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh, the motorcycle ambulance will cost just around Rs. 1 lakh. The bike can cover large distances fast, and can be the first responder. We’re preparing the blueprint for its implementation.”

The minister said the arrival of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health, on Saturday will give impetus to the schemes started by the State government such as Arogya Bhagya for Above Poverty Line card holders among others.

  • Each district will get one dialysis centre

  • Dentures will be distributed to senior citizens
