Skits and dances were performed and short plays staged by children with disabilities during the World Theatre Day celebrations here on Wednesday.

The celebrations were organised by the Dharwad Rangayana at Sawai Gandharva Hall here.

Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami inaugurated the celebrations and lauded the initiative taken by the Dharwad Rangayana to promote theatre activities among children.

The seer hoped that the Dharwad Rangayana would take theatre to other towns and villages in the district. Students would become interested in theatre through such camps, he added

Deputy Director of Public Instruction B.K.S. Vardhan spoke about the significance of theatre activities among children with disabilities. Theatre personalities Sharad Shevade, Indira Kadam and writer Ninganna Kunti were felicitated. Dharwad Rangayana director Subhash Narendra presided.
