V. Dhananjaya Kumar, Janata Dal (Secular) leader, submitted his nomination papers for the Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary seat here on Friday.

Mr. Kumar (63) was elected as BJP MP from the Mangalore parliamentary constituency for four times in a row in 1991, 1996, 1998, and 1999. He also served as Union Minister. He left the BJP with the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. While Mr. Yeddyurappa was take back in the BJP, Mr. Kumar was not. He joined the JD(S) a few days ago.

In his affidavit , Mr. Kumar stated that he had total assets of 3.54 crore. His wife, Vanitha Kumar, has assets worth Rs. 6.40 crore.
