Chief Executive Officer of the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat N. Krishnappa on Thursday laid emphasis on developing scientific temper.
He said the people had not been able to get the better of superstitious beliefs in spite of the tremendous progress being made on the science and technology front.
He was speaking at the Saraswati Teachers Training College here at a function organised to mark the 30th Founding Day of the Karnataka Vijnana Parishat.
According to a release, Mr. Krishnappa recalled the efforts of parishat founder H. Narasimhaiah to spread the message of scientific temper among people.
Students must inculcate habits to question and clear their doubts and develop right values and temperament, Mr. Krishnappa said.
Parishat's Kodagu unit president M.G. Prabhudeva spoke about the advancement made in the field of science and technology.
Science had always aided rational thinking and progress, he said.
T.G. Prem Kumar, a member of the Karnataka Vijnana Parishat Executive Committee, said the parishat was organising seminars, lectures, training sessions, public debates, educational tours for students, and science exhibitions to develop scientific temper among people.
