SHIMOGA: Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat P. Bore Gowda has said that those undergoing handicrafts training should be taught marketing skills too.

Inaugurating the handicrafts exhibition and marketing fair organised by the Jana Shikshana Samsthans (JSS) here on Saturday, he said it would be easier to promote handicrafts in the market if the trainees were taught marketing strategies.

He urged the trainees to update the design and quality of their products in order to meet the changing demands of the market. He also cautioned that their talent would be wasted if they failed to take into account the changing tastes of buyers.

He said that effective publicity was required to successfully market handicraft products. Ideally it would be best to impart such training at the village level.
