The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday set aside the detention of Sheikh Mohammed Asgar alias Maheen alias Mahe, an alleged gangster and prime accused in the then BBMP councillor Diwan Ali's murder, under the Goonda Act.

A Division Bench passed the order while allowing a petition by Maheen's wife, Tabasum Ayesha.

The Court found certain lapses in the detention order passed by the City Police Commissioner and set aside the same.
