SHIMOGA: Members of the local unit of the Madiga Reservation Action Committee held a demonstration here on Thursday to demand the immediate release of the loan sanctioned under the Safai Karmachari Rehabilitation Scheme.

Dharna

They staged a dharna on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's office and presented a memorandum urging the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to ensure the early release of the loan sanctioned to the beneficiaries under the scheme.

They said that the loan was sanctioned to them at a function held here on the occasion of the Ambedkar Jayanthi on April 14, 2005. However, the amount has not been released to them although it has been one and half years since it was sanctioned, they said. The demonstrators warned authorities concerned of intensifying the agitation if their demand was not accepted immediately.
