DISSENT:Members of the District Congress Committee staging a dharna in front of the party office in Chitradurga on Saturday.

Members of the District Congress Committee on Saturday took out a procession and staged dharna outside the party office here in protest against the constitution of the new district committee, without taking all party workers and leaders into confidence.

From the first day of taking charge as district Congress president, Sethuram had started forming separate groups of his supporters and well-wishers, ignoring those who were struggling to strengthen the party from grassroots level. Instead of trying to bring unity among leaders and party workers, Mr. Sethuram was dividing them and using the party office as his personal property, they alleged.

The minority and backward community leaders and workers had been ignored while forming the District Congress Committee, and only those who were close to Mr. Sethuram had been taken into the committee. His attitude indicated that he was anti-minority and anti-backward class people, they alleged.

They said that the issue would be brought to the notice of party high command a demand to expel Mr. Sethuram from the party would be raised.

The agitation would be continued till their demand was met, they said.

District Youth Congress general secretary K Tippeswamy, Hanumantappa, Marappa Nandipur, Sathish, Anand, K. Karthik and C.K. Anilkumar participated.
