Banubai Yevale, woman activist of the Karad unit of the Republican Party of India (RPI), came with fish that died because of water pollution and dumped them in front of the revenue office of tahsildar in Karad on Thursday. The river at village Shere and Atake in Karad taluk had been polluted because of explosives used while taking out sand from the river. Use of explosives had poisoned the water and caused death of fish. Explosion for sand excavation had caused damage to houses in the adjacent area which should be checked along with the pollution, according to a statement by Yevale to Sunil Joshi, Revenue Officer (tahsildar), in the area. — Correspondent
