The Natyabharati School of Classical Dance and Music, which was established in 1959, has organised ‘Hejje Gejjegala Sambhrama’, a cultural programme on January 13 at the Gundi Mahadevappa marriage hall here to mark its 54th anniversary.

H.B. Manjunath, president of the school and a noted cartoonist, told mediapersons here on Thursday that the school, which was founded by the late Srinivas Kulkarni, was being run by his daughter-in-law Rajani Raghunath Kulkarni, a dancer. A dance-drama, ‘Grama Jeevana’, comprising Bharatanatyam, folk art and light classical dance, would be presented on the occasion.

The Natyacharya Srinivas Kulkarni Award for 2013 would be presented to three artistes: Vyjayanthi Kashi, chairperson of the Karnataka Sangeeta Nrithya Academy, Bangalore; R.T. Prabha Rao of the Padmavati School of Performing Arts, Bangalore; and Vidushi R.T. Rama, film and theatre artiste. The Vidhushi Lakshmidevamma Award would be given to Jayalakshmi Krishnamurthy and Padmaja Sheshagirirao, he said.
