Dalai Lama to celebrate birthday at Bylakuppe

Tibetan spiritual leader The Dalai Lama participated in a programme organised to distribute free lunch to government school children on ISKCON premises here on Friday.

It was part of ISKCON’s ‘Akshaya Patra’ scheme or midday meal scheme.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Chandrashekar met the Dalai Lama at Kumarakrupa Government Guest House and presented to him the customary Mysore ‘pete’.

The Dala Lama is scheduled to celebrate his 78th birthday on Saturday at the Tibetan settlement in Bylakuppe in Mysore district, which will also be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
