Dakshina Kannada district emerged overall champions in the three-day Pratibha Karanji cultural festival for high school students, which concluded on Thursday night. Haveri and Udupi districts bagged the second and third positions respectively.

Dakshina Kannada scored 29 points, while Haveri and Udupi scored 24 points and 21 points. The contests were held in the Guru Vidyapeeth in Khanadal village in the outskirts of Gulbarga.

More than 2,000 students from 34 education districts in the State took part in 34 different individual and group contests.

The winners in the drama contest are Balareddy and group, Composite High School Jakanapalli, Sedam, Gulbarga; Ritish and group, Alvas Kannada Medium High School, Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada; and K Mailrappa and group, G.H.S. Koulagonda, Shiggoan, Haveri.Those who bagged the first three prizes in the Carnatic classical music category are Seetha Prajna, Dharshini Composite High School, Shringeri, Chikmagalur; K. Akhila, Vivek English Medium High School, Dakshina Kannada; and Jaswanti, Marimallappa High School, Mysore.

The winners in the Hindustani classical music category are Chennaiah, Vidyasagar High School, Hospet, Bellary; Krutika Jangin Math, D.N. Darbar High School, Bijapur; and Javta Hunnur, Mayur School, Gokak, Chikkodi.
