‘Anti-common man’ policies of the UPA government condemned
Leaders and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Belgaum South Assembly constituency, staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday, demanding reduction in prices of domestic LPG, petrol and diesel.
Abhay Patil, MLA, who led the protest and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President, through the Deputy Commissioner’s office, said the increase in prices had directly impacted prices of essential commodities. People were struggling to cope with the high cost of living, thanks to the “anti-common man” policies of the Congress-led UPA government, they said.
The BJP also demanded that the Centre make public the names of people holding accounts in Swiss banks. A large sum of unaccounted money had been stashed away in Swiss banks and the Centre should leave no stone unturned to bring it back to the country, they said.
The party also urged the Centre to be honest in taking action against those involved in 2G scam, coal scam, and DFL scam. These would become election issues, Mr. Patil said.
