Curzon Park, adjacent to the Mysore palace here, is all set to host the Dasara flower show from October 5. The District Horticulture Society and the Department of Horticulture are jointly hosting the show.
The highlight of this year’s show is a replica of the golden throne, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.A. Gopal told reporters here on Tuesday.
Society vice-president D. Prabha Mandal, Deputy Director of Horticulture H.M. Nagaraj, and Senior Assistant Director (State sector) M.S. Raju were present.
They said the vertical garden concepts were being demonstrated for the first time at the flower show. As part of the concepts, a replica of floral pyramid with 8,500 flowerpots is being created.
Also, over 80,000 pots with ornamental, flower and vegetable plants had been raised for display at the show.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the show on October 5 at 4 p.m. A significant feature of the Dasara flower show is that competitions are held for the public as well as organisations in the private and public sector. The exhibits of ornamental plans and flowers will be judged at the respective venue by a team of judges.
The competition for government and private gardens, educational institutions got underway on Tuesday, while the contest for private hotels’ garden, guest houses and other organisations will be held on Wednesday.
