MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada Kannada Sahitya Parishat is organising non-stop day-and-night cultural programmes from 7 p.m. on March 15 till 10 p.m. on March 17 at the Town Hall here as part of the three-day 16th district sahitya sammelan, according to its president, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura.
Addressing presspersons on Wednesday, he said that saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath would inaugurate the cultural programmes on Monday at 7 p.m. It would be followed by classical dance by students of Natyanilayam of Manjeshwar; “Kurukshetrakkondu Ayoga”, a programme with a blend of Yakshagana dance and costumes; music and debate and a Carnatic classical concert. Badaguthittu Yakshagana bayalata “Bhakta Sudhanwa” would be presented by the artistes of Yakshavrunda, Kota, and Kondadakuli Yakshagana troupe.
Tuesday's programmes would begin with a music concert at 6 a.m. This would be followed by music concerts, harikathe, Bharatanatya and Yakshagana Gombeyata (puppet show) “Narakasura Vadhe” by Gopalakrishna Yakshagana Gombeyata Sangha of Kasaragod during the day, while Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Mandali of Bappanadu would present a show in the night.
Wednesday's programmes will commence with a nagaswara recital by Vidwan Nagesh Bappanadu at 6 a.m. It will be followed by saxophone recital by Yadav Sherigar, light music, Gamaka vachana and dance programmes.
