Announcement brings cheers to people of Gulbarga, Yadgir

Carving out four new taluks from the existing seven in the district and creating three new ones in Yadgir district bifurcating the existing three taluks would go a long way in improving administration and hastening development.

The announcement made to this effect in the budget speech by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar in the Assembly on Friday brought cheers to people of both districts.

Although the demand for creation of a new taluk of Yedrami (bifurcating Jewargi taluk), and Kalagi (bifurcating Chittapur taluk) had been pending for long, Kamalapur (bifurcating parts of Gulbarga and Chittapur taluks) and Shahbad as headquarters of the new taluk (bifurcating Chittapur taluk) came as a surprise.

Creation of Kamalapur and Shahbad taluks is a boon for people of the Gulbarga Rural Assembly constituency. Chittapur was one of the biggest taluks in the State, and it had become difficult for people to approach taluk offices in Chittapur town to get their work done.

Already posts of special tahsildars had been created in Yedrami and Kalag, and a special tahsildar office had been established at Mahagoan, which would now be shifted to Kamalapur.

Welcomed
